to Counsellors, Allied Health and Welfare Professionals
Clinical Supervision is crucial and helps practitioners optimise their professional and personal development. Working in the helping profession in extremely rewarding but it also comes with its unique set of challenges. It is essential for practitioners to recognise these challenges and prioritise their own wellbeing effectively.
I have first-hand experience working in demanding environments including prisons, criminal justice and forensic mental health settings and understand the challenges facing professionals working in these settings. I have also worked extensively with those who use violence and cause harm to others. Throughout my career, I have experienced the many benefits of clinical supervision.
It is important for Clinical Supervisors to have the skills, qualifications, and experience to undertake their role effectively. Additionally, they should be adequately trained in clinical supervision. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Supervisor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
In addition to my extensive practical experience, I have many years' experience providing Clinical Supervision to crisis workers and frontline staff. I have worked in academia and provided individual and group Clinical Supervision to Master of Counselling Students at Monash University and University of the Sunshine Coast.
